The Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo is committed to a sustainable development management program, while constantly improving through its own environmental charter highlighting its key actions:
Staff projects
- Since January 2018, the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo has structured and formalised its approach to sustainable development by putting in place a dedicated team of twenty-three people to monitor all its actions in this area.
- We raise awareness of sustainable development among employees through annual training and a strong commitment from all the hotel’s departments.
- We have created a “Green Corner” for recycling and useful information about sustainable development.
- We have created a green library, the “Cave à livres” or “Book Cellar”, a nod to the wine boxes from the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo cellars that have contributed to the project.
- We have introduced a selective sorting system for waste in staff areas (ink cartridges, plastic, paper, card, etc.).
- We have implemented “Train the Trainer” training on the challenges of sustainable development, accredited by a specialist organisation, for all members.
- We have introduced water bottles for all of the hotel’s employees to eliminate plastic bottles.
- On one afternoon each week, staff are given free sweet treats (ice creams, pastries, seasonal fruit salads, etc.).
- We have installed a bike and scooter rack for use by hotel staff.
- For the well-being of employees, we have created a rest space with a television and comfy seats.
- To boost employee vigilance, we have posted a “don’t throw anything away, the sea begins here” message at the staff entrance.
Social projects
- We collect plastic caps and corks and send them to the association Les Bouchons d’Amour in order to recycle them and help people with disabilities.
- We collect Guerlain soaps and send them to the association SapoCycle, which recycles them and gives them to families in need.
- Employees participate in the “No Finish Line” charity race, which raises money for Children & Future (an association that helps underprivileged or sick children).
- We collect work and personal clothing for the association PÂCOME.
- We collect toys for the SIVOM association of communes in aid of the charity Restos du Coeur and other local organisations.
- We collect corks for the association France Cancer, which recycles them to give them a second life. All profits go to cancer research.
Biodiversity
- We continue not to buy bluefin tuna.
- We have purchased 20 beehives in the Gorges de Daluis for the preservation of bees.
- Hotel employees clean the Larvotto beach.
- We use clean vehicles: electric scooters.
- We have introduced a bug hotel in our gardens to help preserve the surrounding flora.
- In 2020, the Michelin-starred Le Grill restaurant signed up to the Mr. Goodfish programme and committed to the sustainable consumption of seafood products in its cuisine.
Managing energy use
- Our gardens are populated with Mediterranean species, which require less water and care.
- Toilets, showers and staff areas are equipped with motion sensors to ensure lights are lit for the shortest possible time.
Green purchasing
- We purchase organic and local products (bread, wheat, red quinoa, olive paste, olive oil, balsamic vinegar) as well as wild-caught fish, with health and good quality food in mind.
- We support local food chains.
- We have replaced plastic straws with straws made from corn starch.
- We use Imprim’Vert certified eco-friendly paper.
Raising the awareness of our customers
- The concierge service offers customers the use of a Tesla car for their airport transfers.
- We have introduced a selective sorting system for waste in meeting rooms for our business customers.
- We offer to change customers’ bed linen and bath towels every two days.
- We have created a “Green Spirit” channel on the televisions in rooms and suites.
- Actions to promote sustainable development are highlighted on the screens on bedroom telephones from 9pm to 5am.
- The Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo invites its customers to adopt an eco-friendly attitude in their daily activities by recycling their used Nespresso capsules, from which 890 soft drinks cans have been made.
